Kitchen Tools for Farm-Fresh Produce:

1. Sharp Chef's Knife: A reliable chef's knife is essential for slicing, dicing, and chopping your farm-fresh produce with precision and ease. We use a Wüstoff Chef's knife.

2. Cutting Board: Invest in a sturdy wooden cutting board to provide a stable surface for preparing your fruits and vegetables.

3. Vegetable Peeler: Make quick work of peeling potatoes, carrots, and other root vegetables with a high-quality vegetable peeler. A OXO Good Grips Peeler will do the trick.

4. Salad Spinner: Ensure your leafy greens are clean and dry for salads and other dishes by using a salad spinner to remove excess moisture.

Storage Tricks for Prolonged Freshness:

1. Keep produce DRY: Keep your farm-fresh produce in glass, airtight containers or reusable produce bags and make sure it is completely DRY before storing (too much moisture can promote mushiness). Consider this also for herbs - swaddle in paper towel in reusable bag or glass container before storing.

2. Remove Tops: For vegetables with leafy tops (like carrots and beets), be sure to remove the tops when storing to preserve their freshness. You can also save the tops for other recipes (carrot tops have lots of added benefits, check out here).

3. Freezing: Preserve the bounty of your Veggie Boxes by freezing excess produce for later use in soups, stews, and smoothies. A great guide to freezing foods can be found here.

4. Pickling and Canning: Transform surplus fruits and vegetables into delicious pickles, jams, and preserves that can be enjoyed throughout the year. We recommend to read the book "Everything Worth Preserving" by Melissa Norris, it gives a great step by step guide.

Recipe Suggestions to Showcase Farm-Fresh Produce:

1. Summer Vegetable Stir-Fry: Sauté a colorful array of summer vegetables like bell peppers and zucchini with garlic and ginger for a quick and flavorful stir-fry.

2. Caprese Salad: Layer ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves drizzled with balsamic glaze for a classic Caprese salad that celebrates the flavors of summer.

3. Roasted Root Vegetables: Toss carrots and beets with olive oil, rosemary, and thyme, then roast until caramelized and tender for a delicious side dish.

4. Berry Parfait: Layer Whole Milk yogurt with farm-fresh berries and granola for a nutritious and satisfying breakfast or snack.

5. Homemade Salsa: Combine diced tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and cilantro with lime juice and salt for a vibrant and flavorful salsa to serve with chips or tacos.
